More waiting and worrying~

I have been waiting for a call back from my breast surgeon, Dr. McGinness to see when she wanted me to come back for my next mammogram. Today, her nurse called and said that Dr. McGinness had completed the concordance with the pathologist who viewed my last biopsy results. She said she sees something abnormal that she wants to check out with an MRI. So now I am scheduled for an MRI on August 1, 2013 at 9:15 am. Again, this could be nothing, but they want to make sure it isn't cancer. Hoping for a great report. I will keep you posted!

Trevor's Wish Trip to Hawaii~

On July 10th we embarked on an amazing journey to Hawaii....the island of Oahu to be specific. Trevor, Trey and I, swam with sea lions, we all watched a dolphin show and Dad and Tristan did the shark trek...all at the beautiful Sea Life Park. We also visited Pearl Harbor and the Punch Bowl Crater National Cemetery. We went para sailing and it was amazing! We played at the beach at Waikiki and the North Shore. We went to a very cool Luau at Paradise Cove! On our last day, we toured the big Dole Plantation! The entire trip was a dream. So very thankful for the experience!
When Trevor was born and we found out he had Cystic Fibrosis.... there was a very kind social worker at Children's Mercy Hospital who let us know that he had a wish. We talked about the wish when he was older, but waited because we wanted to make sure it was a wish that HE wanted , something he would always remember. He chose this year to go to Hawaii. We filled out all the paperwork with a list of things he would like to do! We sent the paperwork in and received a letter back from the Children's Wish Foundation saying that he was approved! He was so happy! We have been so blessed with Trevor's health. His last illness was about a year ago, when school started. They wanted to put him in the hospital, but we managed to add more treatments and they put him on steroids and he got much better. Cystic Fibrosis is such a scary disease because it is progressive and you never know when or how severely it is going to affect you. Trevor is a hero to me because he doesn't let CF stop him or keep him from achieving his goals! We all had a fantastic time in Hawaii together. Something Trevor and all of us will remember and cherish for years to come! Thank you to the Children's Wish Foundation for granting Trevor's wish!

ALMOST SCARED TO DEATH~

So I visited the KU Cancer Center last Tuesday for the biopsy of the mass they saw via mammograms and ultrasound. It was a pretty easy process this time. (this being my 4th biopsy) Jason was with me and the doctor of radiology and the nurse. Jason asked the Dr. what he thought the mass was and he said without hesitation that he hated to be the bearer of bad news, but he thought it was cancer. Well, Jason and I were pretty sure he was right with his 30+ years of experience. Then on Friday, I received the call I had been waiting for. The results however I was not expecting....NO CANCER! I was totally happy! They are sending the pathology report in the mail and she said they would be keeping a very close eye on me, but for now....I am still cancer free. :) Worried myself sick over it though. Glad I got good news!
